A large holiday home to rent in central Portree, Isle of Skye

A Victorian country house, built in 1889, in its own garden on Staffin Road, in the heart of Portree. Period character sits alongside calm, modern comfort: wooden floors, a wood-burning fire, views over Loch Portree towards the Cuillin, and an en-suite bathroom for every bedroom. It is one of the largest holiday houses in Portree, a short walk from the harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants. It suits families and friends, up to eight, who want space, a kitchen to cook in and the town on the doorstep.

Ground floor

• Entrance porch, with room for boots and jackets after a day on the hills.
• Fully equipped kitchen: cooker and double oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, filter coffee maker and cooking basics.
• Dining room with a custom-made six-seat table, extra seating and views over Loch Portree.
• Living room with a wood-burning fire and a 65-inch 4K smart TV with Netflix and Prime.
• Powder room by the stairs.
• Utility room with a washing machine, drying rack and heated rails.

First floor

• Bedroom 1 (principal): king-size bed, en-suite with a freestanding bath, blackout blinds, fitted wardrobes and views of Loch Portree.
• Bedroom 2: king-size bed, en-suite, Victorian-style wardrobes and views of the hills.
• Bedroom 3: double bed, en-suite, a vanity mirror with Bluetooth speakers, and views over the back garden.

Second floor (loft)

• Bedroom 4: a bright loft room with a king-size bed, skylights and seating. Its en-suite is smaller, under a sloping ceiling, and has a bath.

Throughout

• Wi-Fi at 33 Mbps and a dedicated workspace in a room with a door.
• Four Alexa speakers with Bluetooth sound. Central heating. Books to borrow.
• A fully fenced private back garden with outdoor seating.

Families and groups of up to eight

• Cot and travel cot (please bring your own cot bedding), high chair, children's tableware and fireplace guards.
• Babysitter recommendations on request.

Good to know

• Self check-in with a smart lock. Check-in from 5pm, checkout by 10am.
• Maximum 8 guests. No pets, no smoking, no parties or events.
• The house is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
• Parking: free driveway parking for 2 cars, plus free on-street parking. The drive is steep with a narrow turn, so we recommend experienced drivers for larger vehicles.

Where it is

Staffin Road, central Portree. The harbour is a short walk. The Old Man of Storr is about 12 minutes by car, Talisker Distillery about 27 and Dunvegan Castle about 32.
